On Time

Our whole lives we are told to plan for the future. This is the echo of people who are prepared. Our society cherishes such things. A wise man will have a plan for when the plan fails. With all the movements that a person can make throughout their lives it would seem that the scariest point is that within all of these moves the wrong one can spell disaster even for the most careful of planners. I have decided to share a closely guarded secret with my fellow humans. The future is a lie.

The implications (I understand) are huge but they are true. You will never arrive at the future because you are forever stuck in the present. This fact is the reason that procrastination is almost a sin. Most people are guilty of it regardless of how hard they try not to be. To utter the words "I'll do it tomorrow" is a guarantee that it will never get done.

How many people live their lives of the present feeling guilt of not doing something in the past? People are haunted by their past because their past is only a ghost. Only in the abstracts of memory do a person's life actions exist. These life actions are the affect of planning or not. If real ghosts do in fact exist memories are a lot like them. In my experiences you can dread them but they have not the power to hurt you.

You live in the moment. Today will become yesterday when you reach tomorrow but you will always be in the now. Cherish that fact. It is a special gift we often overlook. Reflect each day on happiness. Think only of the good that has happened and let the bad be a memory - a memory that has no power of you and can never harm you.
